Torchy’s Tacos has recently opened their thirteenth location in Austin at 1822 South Congress. They originally started as a small trailer in Austin but have become a chain restaurant in Texas, Oklahoma, and Colorado. Currently they have 55 locations open.

“My favorite thing about Torchy’s is their many options for food,” seventh grader Bobby B. said. “I also think its nice that they try to not interrupt you when they bring you your food.”

Torchy’s has its similarities and differences to other taco places.

“Torchys is better than Chuys if your looking for spicy food, but Chuy’s is better if you just like the traditional Mexican food,” eighth grader Josh O. said. “Typically Torchy’s can be very crowded but I feel like in the end it’s all worth it.”

Seventh grader Cecelia L. thinks Torchy’s is one of the best taco places in Austin.

“I like the vibe it has and the food is always fresh and delicious,” Lawrence said. “I like that I can go there knowing I’m gonna get good food.”

Two tacos and a drink at Torchy’s are on average nine dollars. At Chuy’s any meal and a drink is on average 11 dollars.

“I like the food and I like eating at Torchy’s because it’s cheap and it’s good,” eighth grader Elizabeth Ann P. said. “The environment is friendly and gives good vibes.”

Sixth grader Laney H. said she would rather go to Torchy’s than another place because of how fast their service is.

“The environment is very open and there’s lot of indoor and outdoor seating,” Laney said. “I like how they give you your food really quickly and even if the line is super long it goes fast.”

Laney likes the service and quality of food at Torchy’s

“I would say Torchy’s has a lot spicier food and the queso is better than other places,” Laney said. “The service was good and the staff was friendly and kind.”

Torchy’s has something for everyone and is rapidly growing across the United States.
