Is Thrifting Taking Over
Thrifting is a popular way to find unique clothes. Thrift stores are retail shops that sell used and vintage clothes. Some people enjoy thrifting because of the variety of styles and because the prices are relatively cheap for on trend clothes. Eighth graders, Jordan Saunders and Donna Kim, explained their opinions on thrifting.
“I like finding unique, trendy clothes for cheap,” Saunders said.
“It’s fun because you thrift for unique clothing that you wouldn’t usually see at the mall or something,” Kim said.
Many students at Gorzycki would recommend thrifting to others. Eighth graders, Beck Gabelein and Donna Kim, described whether or not they would recommend it to others.
“I would recommend thrifting to only the hardest of the core thrifters at Gorzycki,” Gabelein said.
“I would recommend thrifting to people who want unique vintage clothing and have a fun time with their friends,” Kim said.
When people get good clothes for cheap, they describe it as a pickup. Gabelein explained what his best pickup was.
“The best pickup I’ve got was a pair of Gucci slippers; they were nice,” Gabelein said.
Seventh grader, Claire Hartman, also had a good pickup from a thrift store.
“When I went thrifting, I got a nice jacket and a cute pair of jeans,” Hartman said.
Since thrifting has become such a popular way to shop for clothing, Saunders and Gabelein explained whether they now prefer thrifting or going to the mall.
“Thrifting isn’t a set style; it’s just a mix of a bunch of vintage cute stuff. While at the mall, every store has a set style of the type of clothing they sell, so I guess thrifting has a variety of everything,” Saunders said. “I like both equally because it depends on what I’m looking for.”
“I like thrifting more than the mall because at thrift stores, they have a stench, and it makes the clothes unique. There is also good quality clothes being sold for cheap,” Gabelein said.
Thrifting can bring many fun experiences for you and your friends. Kim talked about her best times thrifting.
“My favorite time I went thrifting is when I went to [Las Angeles} because they have the best thrift stores there, and they have cute clothes at the stores there,” Kim said. “It was a really good time.”
Overall, thrifting has become a really popular way to get cute and trendy clothes for both boys and girls. Hartman explained if she would go again.
“I would definitely go again and recommend it to other people.”
