What School Break is the best?

Over the course of a school year, AISD schools have offered 3 breaks for the students. Those breaks included Thanksgiving break which lasted a week in the month of November for the many people that participated in the celebration of Thanksgiving or other traditions. As of 2018, Winter break was 2 weeks long for families to have time to partake in holiday festivities, such as Christmas. The last break before summer was Spring break, which was over a time span of 7 days and allowed students to see the season change and have a break before STAAR testing began.

Winter break was the most enjoyable among Gorzycki students, with an average of … students who prefer it. Out of the three school breaks offered to students, Luis Salazar explained what his favorite break has been, and why he liked it.

“I like christmas break because i like cold weather and it’s just a nice break to hang out with friends and family.” Salazar said.

Seventh grader, Kevin Schicht, disagreed and had different opinions towards the breaks.

“Probably spring (is my favorite break) because its good weather and you can be outside,” Schicht said. “It’s also a pretty good time too.”

Out of the 3 breaks, Thanksgiving Break was the least popular answer for what break was the most enjoyable among students. Seventh grader, Havia Goulding explained what made Spring break her least favorite.

“Spring break is my least favorite because it’s just kind of boring and no one travels so you’re just like at home,” Goulding said.

Schicht argued and told what break he found to be the worst.

“My least favorite break is Winter break because it’s too cold, and I mean it’s longbut you don’t want to go out,” Schicht said.

Winter break had many conveniences that made it enjoyable to the students of Gorzycki Middle school. Goulding described what she thought made her Winter break interesting, and why she thought that.

“Christmas break is longer and you get back with more stories and stuff that you did over the break.” Goulding said.

Many people had certain aspects to a particular break that they didn’t enjoy. Salazar explained what disadvantages he found in Thanksgiving Break and why he thought that.

“I don’t like thanksgiving break because its so close to christmas break.” Salazar said, “I think it’s good, but it’s just not really necessary.”

If students could have any break for any amount of time, student Kevin Schicht described what the specifics of his dream break would be, and how he would go about having the break.

“My dream break is hanging out with my friends and going out on vacation,” Schicht said. “I would like to go to go some place that’s not too cold.”
