AISD Dance Spectacular

This was the first year Middle School teams were invited to the AISD Dance Spectacular.  This year, the Tiger Dancers performed their superhero themed pom routine at the performance, which took place at the Austin ISD Performing Arts Center.

8th grader Kamryn M. and 7th grader Sophie B. describes the hardest part about practicing for competition.

“The hardest part about practicing is practicing  the dance over and over again until it’s nice and clean and it looks the way Mrs. Hanson wants it to.” Kamryn said. “The hardest thing is keeping in formation and and being on count with everyone.” Sophie said.

This is not Kamryns first year being on a dance team at Gorzycki, and it is not her first year competing with the team.  Kamryn describes her experiences at competition last year.

“My best experience while dancing was last year whenever we all won grand champions at our dance competitions that we went to.” Kamryn said.

“The best part about competing is being with your team and feeling like you’re together.”

Dance teacher Michelle Hanson gives dancers advice about going to a competition for the first time.

“For competition, I would say practice harder than what you want to perform.” Hanson said.  “The best part about competing is number one, it gives you an opportunity you wouldn’t normally have, and number two, it make you feel even more like a family, and number three because the girls I  have are amazing.”
