Humans of Gorzycki: Robby N

By: Christian w

Robby Nethercut is an 8th grade A team football player. Many players have different opinions about the hardest part of practice, but Robby says that practicing out in the heat is the hardest part. “It’s very hot during this time of year, and with full pads, it’s much hotter. We get a lot of water breaks during practice, but the heat can still get to you when you are running around and practicing with football pads and a helmet”. In a football team, there is usually one guy who stands above the rest and Robby says that there is more than one. “I don’t think there is just one person who is a team leader because I think we all work together as a team to get the win.” He says that in order to win, it requires teamwork and unity. “If one of our teammates is down, we pick them up to show that we are in this together.” Football in general is a fun sport for most to either watch or play. Robby says that he enjoys playing because it is enjoyable for him and he has a special job at offensive left tackle. “I like to get aggressive on the field. My job at offensive left tackle is to block defenders from the quarterback. I like to push into my opponent to show him that he isn’t getting anywhere near our quarterback.” Robby is just one of the guys on the 8th grade A team and he and his teammates are striving for another great season.
