Rogue One: A Major Hit

Rogue One, released on December 16, has been a major success at box offices worldwide. The movie received overwhelmingly positive reviews, already earning some nominations for various awards. Rogue One goes back before A New Hope came out, showing viewers a story they didn’t see in the first Star Wars movies.

Seventh grader Daniel B. explains why he believes Rogue One was so popular.

“I think going back, a lot of people liked the originals, which was what a lot of people started watching Star Wars,” Daniel said. “So now that we have a movie that goes back to that time zone, people were more excited for it.”

Sixth grader Lainey K. believes Rogue One is superior to the original Star Wars movies.

“Well, I saw the first few with my dad, and I wasn’t thinking Rogue One wasn’t gonna be as good, but I was actually really impressed,” Lainey said.

Daniel thinks viewers should see the other Star Wars movies before seeing Rogue One.

“In The Force Awakens, anyone could see it and understand, but because Rogue One was in between movies, you would have to have seen all the movies to understand,” Daniel said.

The robot in Rouge One, named K2S0, was popular among the viewers.

“He reminded me of R2D2, with his quirky attributes,” sixth grader David V. said.

“[I enjoyed] the robot’s jokes; I thought they were really funny,” Lainey said.

David wished there was less death and gore in the movie.

“If I could change one thing, I’d have less people in the movie die, and not just let their death be something you see coming.” David said.

Seventh grader Elijah H. says to watch the movie before making an opinion on it.

“It’s an amazing movie, and even though people are saying it’s bad, my opinion is to go watch it yourself,” Elijah said.
