Boredom Beaters in ATX This Summer
May 30, 2017
Living in Austin is anything but dull. In fact, Austin is ranked as one of the best big cities to live in, in the United States. With lots of things to do, there is no room for boredom this summer. Even though there is never an off day in this city, it can get hot. Lady Bird Lake, located downtown, is a popular attraction to beat the heat. Sixth grader Ava G. explains what she likes about Lady Bird Lake.
“It is a fun and family-friendly place to go,” Ava said. “My experience there was overall very good. It was really nice outside and it was fun to be with my whole family. When I am there I mostly swim, I tried paddle boarding last weekend and it was a good experience.”
If Lady Bird Lake is too far, and you’re looking for a more local treat, try TCBY. This stands for The Country’s Best Yogurt, and they weren’t lying. This fro-yo is sure to fill you up and cool you down. Seventh grader Maya L. describes why TCBY is one of her favorite summer stops“I like how it’s self serve,” Maya said. “That makes the experience very quick and easy. I go to TCBY when it’s hot outside and I need to keep cool. I usually go with my family and friends because it is a fun place to hang out.”
Although TCBY has many good qualities, Lerma explains what she thinks they should change.
“I don’t like that they mix up the flavors, because some of my favorite flavors won’t be there the next time I visit,” Maya said. “However, I would recommend TCBY because the frozen yogurt is very good and they have a wide variety of toppings.”
Altitude is an indoor trampoline park that is a popular attraction both during school and in summer. Seventh grader Cooper H. explains what makes it his favorite.
“I like how it is different from other trampoline parks. There is more you can do than just jump,” Cooper said. “For example, there is dodge ball, the foam pit, and the rock wall.”
Altitude is located on West Gate Boulevard and has over twenty-three thousand square feet of wall to wall trampolines. Cooper describes why he would recommend this to others.
“I would recommend Altitude because of the fun and happy environment for people of all ages,” Hilton said.
Summer is a beautiful time to experience nature. Whether you’re looking for a hike or a fun place to take your pets, the Greenbelt does all this and more. Eighth grader Sydney B. describes why this is a personal favorite. “I like that I get to bring my dogs there, this helps them socialize with other dogs,” Sydney said. “We have see a lot of local wildlife there and it is definitely beautiful.”
The Greenbelt runs seven miles across South Austin and includes caves, a creek bed, and other bodies of water. However, there is much more to do than hiking. “I would recommend this place to others because there is also rock climbing,” Sydney said. “This is a great alternative if you are looking to switch things up.”
