Twitter recently announced that it will be discontinuing Vine. Vine was a social media platform that let users make six-second videos and post them online. Many internet celebrities, such as Shawn Mendes, Lele Pons, King Bach, Cameron Dallas, and Nash Grier started their careers on Vine. Many students at Gorzycki used Vine daily.

“I spent about 30 minutes a day after school on Vine,” eighth grader Vincent N. said.

Seventh grader Cassidy M. liked that everyone on Vine was unique and says she will miss the app.

“A lot of the viners I watched really brightened my day,” Cassidy said.

Seventh grader Cecelia L. agreed.

“Vine made me laugh and made me happier,” Cecelia said.  ‘“Vine changed my life, because when I was sad I would watch it, or if I was just bored I would watch them and now they won’t be there for me to watch. Twitter deleting Vine has affected many people in and outside of Gorzycki and they probably also have the same feeling about this situation too.”

Not all students, however, were upset about the closing of the app, including seventh grader April C.

“I wasn’t too disappointed because I didn’t spend as much time on it anymore,” April said. “On Vine you would think of an idea and just take a video of it. It didn’t change my life very much.”
