The Gorzycki Dance teams will be departing for the Disney World dance competition on March First. This is the first year Gorzycki is competing in Disney World.
The dance team will be gone for a total of five days.
“We get there on Wednesday and we’ll swim at the hotel,” Dance teacher Michelle Hanson said. “The next day we’ll go to the park then practice from 1:00 to 4:00. On Friday it’s the same thing. Saturday is all competition with a pizza party by the pool. Sunday we’ll go to the park, and then have the award ceremony. We come back on Monday.”
Seventh grader, Tiger Drill dancer, Sydney D. has been dancing off and on throughout her life.
“I [started] dance with my best friend when we were three,” Sydney said. “I re-joined this year for dance. It’s been very different, fun, and chaotic.”
Seventh grade, Tiger Dancer, Aine F. has been dancing for six years, but has never competed before.
“I’m excited for competing,” Aine said. “I’m least looking forward to all the school work I’ll have to makeup because we will be gone for three school days.”
While they’re there, they will be able to explore the park.
“I’m looking forward to Disney for the rides and the shows,” Sydney said.
Aine didn’t want to miss the opportunity.
“I wanted to experience the competition and competing with the team,” Aine said. “I wanted to feel the thrill and have fun with my friends.”
The dancers will have to make up any school work that they miss.
“I plan on getting school work in advance so I don’t have to do as much when we get back,” Aine said.
The Dancers have been to Fiesta Texas, and Seaworld, but this is the first time they’ve ever been out of state.
“I wanted to give the dancers the opportunity to travel out of state and experience the fun of competition,” Hanson said.
