Amy’s is a local ice cream shop that has many locations around Austin. Amy’s is known for their unique variety of flavors and toppings. Amy’s has been around since 1984 with over 350 flavors in rotation. At this time of the year their chocolate covered strawberries are their top sellers. Eighth grader Chiara Von Roden explains her favorite thing to get there and why she likes it.

” My favorite thing to get at Amy’s is their cotton candy ice cream with gummy bears,” Von Roden said. “I also like Amy’s because they have very interesting ways mix the ice cream. ” 

Amy’s also provides dairy free ices and frozen yogurt that are very popular among locals. Amy’s has become very popular over the past several years and continues to grow its business. Eighth grader Gabriel Bodoh explains what he thinks makes Amy’s unique.

“They always flip the ice cream in the air and catch it,” Bodoh said. “I like watching them do this, it keeps me entertained. 

Amy’s is world famous for its handcrafted Mexican vanilla ice cream. Many people love the handcrafted ice creams from Amy’s. Austin Scoops is another local ice cream shop in Austin. Eighth grader Jordan Stewart states her opinion on both ice cream shops.

“I personally like Amy’s better,” Stewart explains. “Their flavors and toppings are more unique and they are also more seasonal.”

Eighth grader Natalie Munoz states her opinion.

“I think I like Austin Scoops better,” Munoz said. “The atmosphere seems more friendly and Austin Scoops is much closer to my house. But Amy’s also has better flavors I think.”

Amy’s also offers ice cream cakes and holiday ice creams. This is one of their many timeless traditions that have been around for over 30 years. Students explain their experiences with Amy’s holiday and celebration traditions.

“I ordered one of their ice cream cakes for my birthday party last weekend”, Eighth grader Addie Lilley said. “I would definitely recommend these cakes, they are very delicious and serve a lot of people.”

Sixth grader Leiton Nguyen shares his favorite holiday treat from Amy’s.

“I really like the peppermint bark because it’s very crunchy and it tastes better than store bought peppermint bark.” Nguyen said.
