With all the joys winter brings, ice skating is one of the enjoyable things people love to do. Students from Gorzycki share their experiences, opinions, and advice for others who want to try it.

Eighth grader Jack R.’s first experience on ice was not the best.

“Yeah it was fun , but I ended up getting sick afterwards,” Jack said.

Students who have skated before give advice to newcomers on ice. Eighth grader Ann M. explains her opinion on what the best thing to wear when ice skating.

“My advice is to wear two layers of clothes so if you fall it doesn’t hurt as much and you don’t get too wet,” Ann said.

Many students have had bad experiences on ice, Ann and sixth grader Gavin Z. explain their worst.

“My worst experience was when I was racing my friend Sarah and I fell on my face and continued to slide. Another really bad experience was when I fell and a
stranger caught me, it was very awkward,” Ann said laughing at the memory.

“My worst experience was falling down and spraining my ankle,” Gavin said.

Even though ice skating can lead to bad experiences some of the best times can happen on the ice. Gavin can relate to this.

“I liked it because it was like roller skating and it was fun. I learned to do a 360 on ice.”
