After 89 years of entertainment, the Harlem Globetrotters are still rolling along. The Globetrotters, a professional basketball team that formed in 1926, consists of team members whose main goal is to make the crowd laugh.
On their annual visit to Texas, they performed in the Erwin Center in downtown Austin on Thursday the 22nd and Friday the 23rd.

Seventh grade student Tate S. likes the Harlem Globetrotters because he went to go celebrate his birthday there.

“My favorite thing is how funny they are because they play basketball but better. The referee was going to the Generals team and he took off his referee shirt,” Tate said.

Seventh grader Emma D. likes the Harlem Globetrotters because they do different tricks and make basketball unique.

“The last time I went was about two or three years ago with my family because it was a surprise after school. I would recommend going because it’s a great experience and it’s really fun,” Emma said.

During the halftime shows they perform more of their tricks, fans can go buy their own Harlem Globetrotters basketball and buy snacks or food.

Sixth grader Greyson G. likes the halftime shows when he went on Thursday with his family.

“I like their tricks that they do because some people can’t do what they do and they must have practice really hard to accomplish that,” Greyson said. “You should go there because it’s fun to hang around with your family and the Harlem Globetrotters song is fun, too.”

Substitute Teacher Russell Lyday expresses that he thinks they are talented and entertaining.

“I like how the players bring people from the audience to the court. They are incredible athletes and they can do amazing tricks and can do crazy routines with the basketball,” Lyday said.

You can attend a Harlem Globetrotters game next year on January 22nd and 23rd of 2016.
