Every year around the middle of January a counselor will come to each classroom and take you through the process of filling out a choice sheet.

As a sixth grader, the options for elective classes are more limited, but as you go up in grades you have a wider variety of classes to choose from and more sports for classes. Seventh and eighth graders have to take at least one semester of a P.E class (Dance, Athletics, Strength and Conditioning, or normal P.E) each year. Before a student leaves Gorzycki as an eighth grader they are required to have taken at least one semester of fine arts.

Sixth grader Jackson H. says that his mom helped him fill out his choice sheet.

“My number one choice on my choice sheet was guitar because I’m currently taking the beginner class and I want to learn more advanced songs and techniques next year,” Jackson said.

Seventh grader Trace Y. feels that the choice sheet process is a very long and strenuous.

“I think you shouldn’t have to get signatures from specific teachers because that is just extra work, and I don’t like numbering because I procrastinate and I have to quickly number them all the night before,” Trace said.

Eighth grader Bailey P. was alarmed when she got her Bowie choice sheet, which is different than the Gorzycki one.

“The Bowie choice sheet has a lot more class options so it was a bit overwhelming,” Bailey said, “Also you had to choose this thing called an endorsement which was a little confusing. I definitely think the Gorzycki choice sheet is easier because it is less complex.”

Seventh grader Sophia C. advises people to be cautious when deciding the classes you want to take because you will be stuck with them for a while.

“ My number one choice is full year art because I’ve been in art since sixth grade and I really enjoy the different things we do in that class and it’s just sort of a break from all of your core classes,” Sophia said.
