Journey

Journey is a game that was released for PS systems. Journey is a single player game that was nominated for Best Score Soundtrack for Visual Media for the 2013 Grammy Awards. This is the first time that a game has been nominated for a Grammy award. However, Journey did not win.

In Journey, you start out as a robed figure, wearing a small scarf, and alone in the desert. You then travel, finding white orbs along the way that increase the size of your scarf, until you reach a large statue. The statue will then tell you some history of an ancient civilization by showing you pictures.

Afterwards, you continue along your path, solving puzzles and finding orbs. The orbs will increase the length of the scarf you wear around your neck. The longer your scarf is, the Higher you can jump and float in the air. Periodically you will find cloth creatures that look like your scarf and will lead you along your path. After finding a few more statues, you race down a sand slide as you head towards a glowing mountain peak.

At any time in the game you can find other robed figures that look exactly as you do. This other robed figure will fill up your scarf and help you be able to float for longer.

You will then reach a peaceful area that seems like it is underwater. Once you pass the ‘underwater’ section, you will reach an eerily still area that has giant robotic-dragonfly-like creatures that will divebomb into you if you are spotted. This will cause your scarf to become shorter.

Once you make it out of this area, you will be in the snowy mountain. As you make your way through the freezing tundra, with or without a companion, you will slowly slow down until you fall dead into the snow. You are then revived by several large robed figures that were the statues seen previously. You then will skyrocket into the sky and jump around on clouds until you reach the mountain peak and are reincarnated into another robed figure that is back where you originally started.

During the course of the credits, you will find out that the robed companions that look like you do, were other people playing the game at the same time as you played.

Journey is a unique game with beautiful illustrations and gorgeous music. The game has no saves but is only about two hours long. Journey can have multiple ideas of what the game overall meant. The way that Journey was made causes the player to have a different experience every time you play.
