Recently, eighth grader, Carli V., under the supervision of dance teacher Michelle Hanson, decided to choreograph an eighth grade goodbye dance that was put into the spring show.

Carli V. began to choreograph the dance after fellow dancer, Elizabeth S. came up with the idea to honor eighth graders. “I think that the goodbye dance is a really good way to honor the eighth graders and all the hard work that they’ve put in over the years,” Carli said.

Carli V. is inspired to dance by the other girls on her team. “Sierra G. inspires me to dance. I would always see Sierra G. around the studio and I assumed she was older than me because she was so good,” Carli said. “Then I saw her at school and was surprised that she was the same age as me. I thought that if she could be that good, then I could too.”
Eighth grader Lauren A. favorite dance is the Tigerette Team dance. “I think the goodbye dance is a really good idea and I’m really happy we’re doing it,”Lauren said.

Lauren thinks that the goodbye dance is a good way to recognize the eighth graders. “I think it’s a good for the parents to be able to see their kids dance one more time at Gorzycki,” Lauren said.

Elizabeth S. came up with the idea to have the goodbye dance. “My sister gave me the idea for the goodbye dance because she is on the Silver Stars and they always do one,” Elizabeth said.

Elizabeth says that the dance is really enjoyable, but wishes it was more of a group number. “I thought the goodbye dance would be a good way to showcase all of our different skills,” Elizabeth said.

Mary B. started dancing because her mom encouraged her too. “I really like the goodbye dance because it incorporates all the dancers from all the different teams,” Mary said.

Budd has had a lot of good memories while dancing for Gorzycki. “My favorite memory of dancing is when we were doing our Hey Batter Swing dance. We were using baseball bats and I completely whacked our captain in the head,” Mary said.

Mary  was on Tiger Drill in seventh grade and agrees with the idea of a goodbye dance. “I think they should always  have an eighth grade goodbye dance. I don’t know why they haven’t had one for the past couple years.”
